Photographer Spotlight: Courtney Sofiah Yates

Courtney Sofiah Yates is a Unique York-primarily primarily based photographer and director. Pushed by the human need for meaning, her footage shine a spotlight on resonant moments of day-to-day existence, from the quiet to the grandiose. Guided by her emotional instincts, which she describes as “ever changing and usually illusory but but as trusty as anything,” Yates footage the world around her, providing a up to date watch at the familiar.

“My way as a photographer is to permit viewers to query their interpretations of possibly mundane or passed over moments in their lives by reminding them of their purest reactions to those moments,” she explains. “I am furthermore inflamed relating to the methodology our biases level to themselves when viewing or imaging emotional subjects across the spectrum of human save. I am hoping to abet others through a continued relationship of finding out and refining who I photograph and how. Most of all, I accept as true with photography is therapeutic and right here’s why I surely feel so lucky in an effort to establish it. I am hoping to proceed this work for the leisure of my existence.”
